I’m just going to go straight into the review, no fluff… no filler. I cannot get enough of these games! Am I a fan of the graphic novel? Nope, I would like to be, but I never had the opportunity to pick one up. Am I a fan of the show? Nope, I don’t oppose it, but I just don’t have much time for television these days. Am I a fan of great storytelling in video games? Yes!
If you haven’t already done so, pick up the two games that precede this one. There is nothing like it out on current game systems today. A “point & click” game that will pull you into its world and make you feel as though you are one of the characters. And the best thing is that each episode is so different from the one before it. I thought this franchise would go downhill after the first, but it has only gotten better.
Episode 3 follows the survivors of the first game, and any stragglers you may have picked up in episode 2. Forced to vacate the abandoned hotel that they discover at the end of Episode 1 – they are left with no other choice but to hit the road in hopes to reach the coast and to find a boat. Along the way you will discover new characters and be dealt with many drastic decisions that are not easy to make. That’s one thing that I love about this game, the decisions and the consequences they may hold in this game or other games to follow. Sure, other games do the same thing, but usually you have unlimited time to make your decision. The Walking Dead games give you a time limit (a very short time limit) to make you decision. And let me just tell you that this is the most drastic game so far in the series, and most of it happens within the first hour.
Do yourself a favor, pick up these games now. And don’t start with the third episode, you will get more enjoyment if you start from the beginning so you can build up your character and the relationships with your fellow survivors.
